Valley of Flowers

Day 5: 15 Aug 2015

It was Independence day today and it was nice feeling to see that it was celebrated well even at this remote place. It was time for all of us to walk down to Govindghat in the morning. We started around 9:00 AM in morning and reached down at around 2:00 PM. There we had langar (free food) in the gurudwara at Govindghat. The gurudwara was very beautifull and equally well managed by the samiti. We then started our journey to Badrinath. On our way we came across beautiful landscapes. Also on the way we helped a car which was stuck in the middle of a road in a water crossing; Thar- The Black Hawk showed its strength that day. Finally at around 6:00 PM we reached Badrinath and settled ourselves in the hotel. After sometime, it was time to visit the Badrinath ji temple, one amongst the Chardham yatra circle. The temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu. The temple has hot water springs and according to the rituals the pilgrims should bathe in it before going inside the temple. The water was really very hot and it was quick dips in it to complete it in one go.

After buying prasad and all, we all went inside the temple. The idols and the architecture of the temple are marvelous and mesmerizing. PBC members attended the “Shayan aarti” in which the Lord is offered prayers before he goes off to sleep. The atmosphere there was spellbound. The members felt just great.

After sometime, we all went for dinner and then a little bit discussion about the temple and then all were off to sleep.
