Har ki Dun Valley is a trekking destination located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand ,India very close to the border of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Valley is set at an elevation of 3,566 mts above sea level and is situated at the foothills of Swargrohini Peak. The valley provides UN-parallel views to trekkers and amazing scenic views of the nature. Har Ki Dun is one of the remotest places to visit in Uttarakhand and offers virgin beauty.
Trek goes through some of the most isolated villages of India which are still unaffected by the civilization. The local villagers are believed to be descents from the “Kauravas” of Mahabharata and has a temple dedicated to Duryodhan in village Osla. The trek follows the bank of river Supin presenting a panoramic view of the Supin Valley and is 26 kms one way from nearest road point at Taluka. It is surrounded by snow-covered peaks and alpine vegetation and is connected to Baspa Valley by the Borasu Pass. It is surrounded by dense forests of pines and glittering mountain peaks and is paradise for nature lovers. Har-KI-Doon falls within the Govind Pashu vihar and if you are lucky you may spot wildlife in route.
The trek can be divided in two parts –
The 1st part of trek starts from Taluka to Seema (14 km, 5 to 6 hours trek along with Supin river ) is through dense forests of chestnuts, walnuts, willows and chinars. Although road is up to village Taluka but Sankri to Taluka is a tough road for 4*4 vehicles or vehicles with high ground clearance. If you are driving your own vehicle it is best to reach Sankri and then take a shared cab till Taluka.
The 2nd part from Seema to Har-ki-doon (12 kms , 5 to 6 hrs) is through terraced mountain fields, lush green grassy land and conifer forests.

How to get there:
By Air: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun, almost 185 Kms from Sankri village. You will find taxis and cars in the Jolly Grant Airport which you can hire to Sankri. Then you will have to trek.
By Rail: The nearest railway station is Dehradun railway station at a distance of 185 kms from Sankri. You will find bus at Dehradun ISBT or you can hire taxi or jeep that drops you at Sankri.
By Road: Buses are available from Delhi ISBT Kashmiri Gate , Rishikesh, Hairdwar and Dehradun.
By Taxi/Car from Delhi: Delhi – Dehradoon – Mussoorie – Bernigad – Naugaon – Purola – Mori – Netwar – Saur – Sankri (425 kms)
