Sach Pass – In search of Truth

Day 7 & 8 (17th,18th Sep 2014)

Today we will head back to Chandigarh but not before we see the Switzerland of India “Khajjiar”.We started our ride around 9 AM and the first task was to get the chain issue fixed for Adi’s thunderbird. We searched for an authorized Royal Enfield dealer in chmba but only find an authorized shop that too was closed.

We then got the motorcycle checked at a local mechanic. Chain was tightened and some oiling was done to resolve the issue. We moved towards Khajjiar via the Jot road and reached Khajjiar around 11 AM. Khajjiar has one of the most beautiful meadows in Himachal surrounded by deodar trees all around and a small water body at the center.

We had breakfast at one of the local shop and took some beautiful pictures of the surroundings.
After an hour or so we moved on, as we approached Dalhousie, the weather turned foggy and remained so until we were outside the Dalhousie area into the plains.

The rest of the journey till chandigarh was boring as usual and with couple of breaks we reached chandigarh around 8 PM. Checked into a budget hotel in sec 43 and got a good deal for an air conditioned room. My cousin also visited me there and we had a great time chatting and telling stories about our ride. Next morning, we resumed our ride back to Delhi and reached our respective homes around 2 pm.

In 8 days we completed our toughest ride till date and covered aprox 1600 kms. A 200 kms of extreme off-roading section which took almost 3 days to complete was also covered.3 High passes (Jalori Pass (3120 mtrs) , Rohtang Pass (3980 mtrs) and Sach Pass (4420 mtrs) were covered with 3 major tourist destination of Himachal (Shimla,Manali,Chamba).

Here is the complete Route Map which we followed

  1. A must read amazing and wonderful travel story by PBC members towards Sach pass and mesmerising beauty of the nature. PBC rocks… 🙂

  2. Ye, it is true that Road ends in words and imagination, when we talk of destinations Jalori or even on Rohtang. I jumped over both on my birdie HH 100CC. And that was, like a ostrich flight to sky. But Sach is missed, when HP Police shackled the rims, ” no crossing to snow line, still road is off right hear” Had to cut sorry figure, it was Bairagarh where I was stopped, cpulf not see the road end to Saach.

  3. There is a saying ‘Your mind must arrive at the destination before you do” and you guys proved this truth.Nice story……
